East Rutherford, NJ – In a stunning move, the New York Giants have benched starting quarterback Daniel Jones in favor of backup Tommy DeVito for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Struggles Continue for Jones

Jones has struggled mightily this season, completing just 59% of his passes with seven interceptions in four games. The Giants are 1-3, with Jones throwing for just one touchdown and contributing to a league-leading 10 turnovers.

“It’s been a tough start for Daniel,” said Giants head coach Brian Daboll. “We need to see more consistency and production from the quarterback position.”

DeVito Gets the Nod

DeVito, a fourth-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, has limited experience as a starter but has shown promise in limited action. He completed 14 of 24 passes for 136 yards and a touchdown in relief of Jones last week.

“Tommy has shown us some good things,” said Daboll. “He has a strong arm and good mobility. We think he can give us a spark.”

Looking Ahead

The Giants hope that the change at quarterback will provide a spark to their struggling offense. They face a tough test this week against the Bears, who have one of the league’s top defenses.

“We’re not giving up on Daniel by any means,” said Daboll. “But we need to find a way to win games now, and we think Tommy gives us the best chance to do that.”
